Find your true self amidst the shapes of the poses as we move from one to the next. Feel your breath. Get grounded. I offer private yoga instruction. I teach prenatal, post-natal (babies are welcome!), kid yoga, vinyasa, all levels Hatha Yoga, and/or restorative yoga. One hour once a week with small sequences given each class for a home practice will get you back to yourself.

You will see your material as if through new eyes once we are done and feel authentic and connected as you deliver it.
Do you have an audition coming up and need help with your materials? Or do you need to shake up how you approach text? Do you need to find ways to attune with your surroundings and other people? I offer acting coaching in which we explore voice, movement, and various games and activities from acting practices over the 20th and 21st centuries. You will feel the results of your actor training!
Ms. Hurt is an outstanding public speaking instructor. As a business professional, my goal was to seek out ways in which I could improve my oratory skills and corporate stage presence for speaking engagements and presentations. Ms. Hurt enlightened me to the crucial yet often unobserved connection between the speaker’s internal environment (active awareness of breathing, posture, and voice projection) and his or her audience and surroundings. I was also pleasantly surprised to discover how effective her relaxation techniques were in diffusing many everyday challenges as well. Throughout our sessions Ms. Hurt took an active interest in helping me achieve my goals. I am very fortunate to have benefited from her instruction, and highly recommend her services.

Aimee Cacarillo, Acting and Voice Teacher
Taking a single class with Melissa Hurt has made me into both the performer and woman I am today.
I had the honor of taking Voice & Speech classes (Lessac and dialects) with Melissa, and she also privately coached me in my monologues and career. She never failed challenge me. She goes above and beyond as a teacher, and she truly cares about the success of her students. She uses her expertise as a professor and her resources as a professional to embolden her students for the future.
Melissa intuitively connects with people. She seems to instinctively know how to enhance a performance, and I felt that she swiftly got to my core as a performer, so every note she gave was specific and effective. The connection between my mind, body, and voice has never been stronger. Every time I am coached by Melissa, I feel inspired, confident, and ready to tackle the next challenge.
In many classes, students forget material immediately after the class ends. Melissa not only teaches you a monologue or a skill or an accent – she teaches you a process. She teaches you a new way of learning. She empowers you to begin coaching yourself for the future. Long after your time with her, I can guarantee that you will find yourself referencing her guidance.
Out of all my incredible instructors, Melissa Hurt has challenged me to reach new heights both as a performer and a person. I will forever be grateful for the time I had in her classes. She is brilliant and genuine, and she has my highest recommendation.
